Zhongyuan Heavy Forging: Tackling Complex Shafts for Demanding Drives
The shafts in one extreme can be the simplest of items—straight bars—to the other extreme, they can be massive industrial parts. This one shows what the heavy industry needs. Very large diameter step shafts with heavy flange ends that need serious forging. At Zhongyuan, this is precisely what drives us forward.

We understand that for the grain structure of the material to be right on the part with many step changes in diameter and heavy shoulder sections—whereas our expertise pays off. We don’t just shape the material by machining; rather we forge it. Through the application of pressure at a high level, we remove the internal cavities and at the same time develop a fibrous grain pattern that runs along the shape of the part. That being the case, when a high torque forces a flange or a bending moment stresses the step, the shaft does not break under the pressure. What it does is to absorb the shock and continue to rotate.
We can provide the alloy in accordance with precisely what your needs are, be it the resilience of a carbon steel or the particular heat-treatment of an alloy. In our heat treatment facilities, we are prepared to handle such long shafts that hardness and mechanical properties are uniform from the flange center up to the end.
Cutting such big shoulders and making highly accurate faces is very demanding both time and skillfully done machinery. That is why our people working with NC machine tools make a great effort to ensure all your dimensions, no matter whether they are seal faces, bearing seats, or any other type of a keyway, are strictly met.
If you are a customer whose products need parts for a gas compressor, an alternator, or a large heavy forging machine and a failure would mean a big cost, then you know exactly the level of the part that we deliver to our customers daily.
We do not just cast steel and let it cool in the mold; our aim is to design not the component itself but the whole framework of the structure of your machine, making it the main support of the structure.
