Handling a shaft of this length and weight is no minor feat, but making it spin straight at high speed is the real challenge. The multi-diameter rotors shown here have monolithic flanges and intricate stepped designs. At Zhongyuan, we forge these huge pieces using a single billet, so there are no joints or weak spots that can fail after prolonged usage.
The real hard work comes after the forging is done. Our heat treatment technology permanently fixes the metal characteristics, giving the steel its strength to withstand tremendous torque without bending. Following that, our CNC lathes come into play. We're referring to high-degree-of-precision machining at those bearing and flange faces which dynamically balance a rotating object perfectly. A vibratory rotor can cause a catastrophic failure in a turbine/compressor, it just cannot be running at that magnitude and frequency.
