Factors that cause failure of hollow bored bars and ways adopted by HHF
To the untrained eye, a hollow bored bar seems uncomplicated. An outer >diameter, an inner >diameter, the length and the specified mechanical properties. But anyone who has been operating such bars in actual situations knows that the defects do not usually manifest themselves through the obvious characteristics but rather in the less visible aspects. A forging that was done at a low ratio tends to have the casting structure remaining in the core of the bar. That casting structure will not be fully removed even through post - forging heat treatments.Uneven wall thickness leads to differential cooling of the inner and outer tube surfaces during quenching and, accordingly, a hardness transition from the outer wall to the inner wall. This kind of bar is then, for instance, incorporated into the drilling tools as bits of drill strings, hydraulic actuators, or as transmission components. In the worst case it breaks, deforms or becomes completely worn out.
In short, we solve the issue at the root. Steel bars are pressed under 10,000-ton hydraulic force. This pressure is enough to cause the material's carbides to be fragmented, and the new material is consolidated at the same time, thus the steel's internal structure gets densified.
Our heat treatment process is done with the wall thickness as the basis and not fixed times. This helps us ensure a minimal and acceptable hardness difference between the outer and inner walls of steel products.
Each production batch is subjected to a range of physical and chemical tests and hardness testings in our laboratory of National Class II.

First, grade coverage. 4330V, 4145H, 4140, and 4340 are all standard options, and each fits a different set of service conditions. 4330V balances strength and toughness for high-load drilling tools. 4145H is the conventional choice for oil drilling tools. 4140 and 4340 are widely used in heavy machinery and power transmission. The complete operation is fully handled at this site. The forging, heat treatment and final machining are entirely under our own control. All types of quenching - oil and salt bath quenching - are also handled internally and there is no outsourcing.

Service and application conditions of hollow bored bars can vary greatly. Bars destined to oil drilling equipment have to endure high torque and impact; thus high strength toughness balance is required.

Our warranty policy allows that any product issue confirmed to be a defect during the warranty period, gets fixed either by repairing the component, providing an alternative, or in the form of a credit as agreed upon in the contract.

We can also help you, if you have a customer overseas and would like SGS or BV to be involved. We can agree to a joint inspection of the goods by us and one of these organizations.
We retain production and inspection records of each ordered batch so that the spare parts and new orders would be the same as the first lot, which means we would just look up the records rather than have the drawings done again.
Logistics and Delivery
Oversize hollow bar lengths require special transportation considerations. Our packing methods ensure that the machined surfaces of the products will be rust-free during maritime transit. The positions of lifting points and the ways that large bars will be secured are checked with the forwarder. We send the shipment from Qingdao, Shanghai, Tianjin, or Ningbo either under a FOB, CIF, or DAP agreement. Packing pictures, measurement sheets, and inspection documents are attached to the cargo. Also, factory loading is on offer if it minimizes the handling and/or packing costs to some extent.
Payment Terms
Generally, the payment condition is as below:
30% deposit after signing a sales contract to start production;
70% balance before loading at the port of shipment.
However, those long-term clients and clients with repeated shipments can negotiate sight letter of credibility or partial payment as per shipping documents. We can also accept T/T and L/C.

In November 2004, Henan Zhongyuan Heavy Forging Co., Ltd (HHF) was founded in Jiyuan city, Henan province. The entity is recognized as a nationally high-tech enterprise with 4 manufacturing sites dedicated respectively to forging, heat treatment, petroleum equipment and mechanical processing, in addition to which, it has a provincial engineering and technological research center for drilling tool stabilizers, a physical and chemical lab, as well as a local technology R&D center. Both 4330V and 4145H steels have good mechanical properties but 4330V is stronger and more resistant to deformation, hence suitable for high-load drilling tools and heavy-duty conditions whereas 4145H remains the choice among oil drilling tools and offers a good compromise between performance and cost. Your selection is ultimately based upon your operating conditions.
